Tips on How to be a Good Neighbor

Our "Be A Good Neighbor" campaign is an ongoing effort by the University of Utah's Community Relations Team to encourage students living off campus, but near the university, to remember that they are part of a larger community, one that includes longtime residents, families and fellow students.

Being a good neighbor is about more than where you live. It's about how you live. The choices you make, from keeping noise levels down and cleaning up after gatherings to respecting private property and looking out for others, can make a big difference in the quality of life for everyone.

We want our students to enjoy their college experience, have fun and take pride in being part of the U community. We also want them to recognize the responsibility that comes with living in a shared neighborhood.

Being a good neighbor starts with three simple principles: Be Responsible. Be Clean. Be Safe.

Here are some practical tips to help you put those principles into action and make a positive difference in the neighborhoods we share.

The University of Utah Community Relations Team is focused on building and strengthening relationships between the university and our immediate neighbors. Through consistent communication, events, and strategic initiatives our goal is to ultimately be a good neighbor and help our neighbors see the value in living so close to Utah’s flagship institution.
